I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Hampton Roads VA Chapter of Professional Travel Agents of North America (PTANA). This webpage is a useful resource for following the various activities and events sponsored by our chapter. I also encourage you to frequently view the PTANA Master Calendar at www.ptana.org (ALL CHAPTER EVENTS tab) where you can view PTANA national, and chapter scheduled events each month.

The travel industry has endured an unprecedented pandemic the last two years, but our chapter has continued to serve its members throughout this period with ongoing virtual education programs, when in person events were not feasible. As we move into 2022, the Hampton Roads Chapter enters its 12th year as part of PTANA and will continue its effort to provide a viable local resource for the travel advisor community in the Hampton Roads area. Our goal is to enhance professional development for our members and build a strong network of travel advisors and travel industry suppliers. To that end, our members will be engaged in several key programs during 2022 and beyond.

PTANA is a Premier member of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and our members get discounted CLIA Individual Agent membership rates as well as select complimentary training opportunities. Our members also support the CLIA Cruise 360 event which takes place in Fort Lauderdale, FL on 29 Mar-3 Apr 2022. This event offers a great opportunity for travel advisors to get a cruise specialist certification.

PTANA is a main sponsor for this year’s Las Vegas Travel Agent Forum on 20-23 Jun 2022 at Caesar’s Palace Las Vegas. You are encouraged to attend this worthwhile learning and networking event where you can also represent PTANA as a panel member, staff the registration table or work in the exhibit booth at the trade show. Did I mention that the registration fees for PTANA members are the lowest available?

A highlight of the year will be attending the PTANA 14th Annual Convention on 18-23 Oct 2022 at Dreams Playa Bonita Resort Panama. I hope to see many of our chapter members attend. More details on the convention are forthcoming.

We look forward to you joining our educational sessions on the 4th Thursday of each month, whether the meeting is in person or virtually. We normally rotate our in-person meetings between the Peninsula and the South Side. I welcome back any past members and invite any prospective members to join us. For our current members, I personally want to thank each and every one of you for your ongoing support for PTANA and the Hampton Roads Chapter.

Members pay $15.00 at the door. First Time Guests are Free! Second and subsequent meeting guests will pay $25.00 at the door. Visiting vendors will pay $25.00 at the door. Our “No show” policy is in effect. As a courtesy to our vendors, please cancel in a timely manner. Prize Eligibility: Only PTANA Chapter Members in good standing are eligible for prizes offered by the chapter, vendors, or sponsors at a general PTANA meeting or special event.

On-Line registration is required for all meetings and events via Constant Contact.  Registration details are announced monthly.  Pay Pal/Credit Card Payments are accepted.  

MEETING COST
(Unless otherwise specified/Excludes special events)

  • Each dinner meeting is sponsored by an industry supplier. Unless otherwise advised, members attend the functions at a fee of $15.00 per meeting. Guests may attend the first meeting FREE and subsequent meetings at a fee of $25.00 per meeting. Vendors pay $25.00 at the door.
  • If you have not paid your membership dues for the current year, you are considered a guest and the NON MEMBER rate will apply.
MEETING “NO SHOW” POLICY.  As a courtesy to our vendors, please cancel in a timely manner.  Members that fail to cancel and not attend the meeting, will be billed $15.00.  Industry partners will be billed $25.00. Last minute cancellations can be called, to Brenda Tusing, (757) 270-3913

CHARITIES

Each month we will be collecting items for our charitable causes.We will be selling 50/50 Raffle Tickets for support of a charity to be selected in the future.  We welcome all members and guests to take part in this worthwhile endeavor and give back to our communities.

Join an Existing PTANA Chapter

  1. To join an existing chapter, download the Membership Application form and Code of Conduct form using the Link below.
  2. Mail the completed application packet with all required documentation as stated on the application to the Membership Chairperson of the chapter you are joining.  Mailing address of the Membership Chairperson is found in the “Directory of Membership Chairpersons” link below.

Important

  • At least one specialist program is required for membership. This includes domestic, international, chain hotels, cruise lines, and Travel Institute Specialist Programs. If you do not have a Specialist Certificate, you may go to http://www.travelagentuniversity.com and take one of the many on-line Specialist courses offered.
  • Renew membership by the beginning of each calendar year.
